Awesome! Looks like just what it says, A5s from '46 (less wings & platform);

They're early A5's......you're thinking of the later A5's that used the 825/828 cabinet, same as the A7.
I have 1 of these h110 cabinet stored in my uncles garage.
Unless the seller gets his very high price the first time around, I'm betting we'll be seeing them on Ebay several times.....this seller seems to play games until he gets his price, or something. He had a pair of A800's on Ebay that closed at very high prices, but apparently not high enough for him. After apparently selling, they'd get re-listed....several times. Although, I see this time his opening bid price is the same as his BIN, so maybe this time will be different...... err, wait, he says this auction is a re-list. I didn't see the original...... don't know how I missed it. I guess that one was setup the same way though. I don't know.....maybe he has a tough time getting people to actually follow Through?
I'm not sure how he thinks the stand and wings are worth $600 extra.
I wish I had space for those in my house...... they won't fit in my door, Though :-(

All things considered, low serial #, all original components, intact pair of some of the earliest VOTTs with wings and stands, I don't really think they're overpriced at all...

Very cool, I like those alot! need to install a new door to get them in the house tho!
So are the specs for those online somewhere or maybe even drawings for the cabs?
I have a beautiful pair of 515B's rebuilt by GPA that need a box other than the cardboard
one they live in right now!
Yes indeed I was. Never seen these big WWII vintage cabinets before. Beasts! Of course the Altec catalog says they are "a smaller size loudspeaker."
That's a lot of box volume for a single 15"
EDIT: Was just looking thru the 1945 catalog and saw that the price of the A5 system was $525 (+ installation). That's over $6000 in 2009 dollars. Maybe the ebay price is not too far off.
There have been a few (very few) discussions on this cabinet on the board and a few dimensions tossed around, but no drawings.
I had some speakers, pulled out of a console, mounted in cardboard boxes, behind the seat in my truck when I was in high school :-)I have a beautiful pair of 515B's rebuilt by GPA that need a box other than the cardboard

Now I see in final pictures that they include HF units (he should have had complete assembly in main picture as ad looks like bass units only - some people do really poor sales presentations) . Price seems high but could be considered realistic.

Ha at least they were mounted!! I feel guilty having these tucked away in their boxes
hidden in the closet waiting for me to put them to work!! I just can't decide what I
want to build for them to live in!

Don't build an A5 - look at that ridiculous piston-to-throat ratio
